In May we've for Tele Greenland conducted a review and recording of the buildings in Danmarkshavn (Denmarks port) to use for a maintenance plan for the next 10 years.
There are 15 very different buildings which include station buildings and the accommodation department, the balloon house, workshops, power stations construction, casing and cable huts.
The station is located on Greenland's east coast at 76° 46' north latitude in the national park. It has a permanent staff of eight people and it is possibly to navigate without the use of icebreaker in the summer.
The weather station is part of a series of weather stations that collect data for DMI to weather forecasts for Europe and North America. The staff is launching weather balloons twice a day, and they rise up to 25-35 km altitude where the blows, and gives information about the atmosphere all the way up.
Tele Greenland operates the station, and they receive a subsidy to the functioning from ICAO, The International Civil Aviation Organization.
The Denmark Expedition (1906-08) had starting from the same place as the weather station is located. The hut from then is called Danmarksminde (Denmark Memorial) and still exists, but was not included in the registration.
